2022 Memorial Cup Speech.

I’m no hockey fan, but I do love having my copy read aloud for the whole country to hear. Kia Canada’s Vice President and COO, Elias Al-Achhab, reading words that came from my brain boosted my ego for approximately two weeks.

[intro]

After three long years, one of Canada’s most coveted events is back. A showcase of competition, comradery, and community, the Memorial Cup presented by Kia has given Canadians a reason to celebrate once again.

[welcome]

On behalf of Kia Canada, it is our pleasure to reintroduce and welcome you to the 2022 Memorial Cup Arrival Ceremony.

[history & significance]

At Kia, we believe in movement that inspires. This event is a remarkable phenomenon that moves Canadians in a way no other sport does. It brings people together; friends, families, coworkers, and even strangers gather here to witness the hard work and dedication put in by each group of athletes.

[Kia’s involvement]

Kia is proud to be the official automotive partner of the CHL and presenting sponsor of the Memorial Cup. Any event of this magnitude requires support in transportation that is both reliable and enjoyable to drive. We are grateful to be able to showcase our newest lineup of vehicles, including the fully redesigned 2023 Sportage, as they help drive the future of hockey throughout the tournament.

[thanks]

We would like to extend our gratitude and congratulations to everyone involved in making this event possible, including: the athletes, volunteers, our hosts, the Saint John Sea Dogs; the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, the Ontario Hockey League, the Western Hockey League, the Canadian Hockey League, and the city and people of Saint John. Last, but not least, we want to thank you, the fans. Thank you, all, for making this year’s Memorial Cup possible.

[kick-off]

Now, let’s come together as we prepare to crown a new national champion!
